3 hours from home with TOB problems, please tell me what I should do!
Here's the deal, I'm at a training school 170 miles from home and my noisy TOB is making an awful grinding, whining, and a loud metal rubbing noise once the pedal is pressed down, it gets worse the further down I press it, it's ear picering loud, the car acts like it wants to die too. For a month, it had the usual Ford TOB whine and and slight rubbing noise most of our cars have, but nothing like this. I'm not paying someone to tow it 3 hours and I'm not paying someone to fix it here. I have a friend's house in town I can park it, but I won't be able to fix it this weekend, I would have to come back and fix it next weekend. My question is, has anyone had a TOB fail and how long was it after the noise started? I know this sounds stupid but I wonder how long it has? I really want to drive the car home so I can fix it right away instead of having to spend $50 in gas a two days here. Any advice on that? Is there a write-up with step by step instructions on how to remove the T-45 on a 98 Cobra? Please people, help a stuck brother out.
