Ive noticed that it seems that the 99-01 Cobras and the 03-04 Mach1s both have a 4v v8 engine producing 305hp/320tq....are they basically the same cars (other than different looks, shaker hood for mach1, small details...)

I think they may have had different gearing too. The Mach1 has 3.55's stock.

i thought the Mach1s have 3.73 gearing for stick shifts....

Machs come with 3.55 gears
Cobras come with 3.27 gears

So the Mach is a little bit faster stock vs stock

it would suck if they are cuz if they used it for a 99 cobra and then use the same engine 5 years later for the Mach1 thats pretty sad and gay

The Mach 1 is faster since it it's a bit lighter because it has a solid rear axle. The Cobra is also harder to launch because of the IRS.

It's a damn good engine. Car manufacturers have been doing that for years. Rarely do a manufacturer come out with a brand new engine design.

Hell, the 4.6 modular was introduced in 1991 in a lincoln town car. Then it resurfaced in 1996 as a new mustangmotor.
