Default BAD ALTERNATOR ALREADY?

hey guys i have a 2002 gt with 26,000 miles and tonight i went to go start my car in storage and a brand new battery was dead as hell. I had the alternator tested and it has a bad diode in it. they quoted me at $200 for a new one. i thought that was kinda high so i was checkin on here to see if anyone has bought a new alternator cheaper somewhere else. thanks

Y don't you just replace the diode?? If you can get to it, I'm sure a replacement is available at Radio Shack, just desolder the old one and solder a new one in

Hmmm, then I guess I'd check you area and see if there is a place that repairs them, I know here there is a place that sells rebuilt alternators and also repairs them. If not I guess you;ll just have to shop around for a new one

it was around $125ish
