Auto to manual?

Auto to manual?
Im looking at a wrecked 04 gt w/ auto tranny. What are the performance differences between the two? How signifigant is it? How do stangs react to stalls? Will the manual have a better all around sound to it, due to the shifting, and slipping the clutch? I know it sounds kind of stupid, but I usually love the sound of stangs, but today I heard an auto, and it didnt sound as good IMOHow hard is it to swap to manual? What all will I need? Price?
Sorry about all the questions, Ive been reading up on some info, and have been searching all night, and have found very little. Thanks

RE: Auto to manual?
the autos are about .3-.5 slower than the manuals, depends on mods etc... but they can be setup to be maybe.2-.3 slower, but of course they are alot more consistant. If your wanting a street car go manual... track car go auto. the swap should be pretty easy either way.. the biggest pain being the computer stuff. Also your power goals come into play.. for big power an auto is probly smarter... with a shift kit, valve body all the goodies (built of course) the auto is mean. but of course the manual is always alot of fun.

Trust me on this, just keep the auto and avoid the nightmare of manual new edge stangs.
Unless your swapping to a TKO etc I see no reason to go to a manual over the auto. The stock manuals all suck and are prone to breakage. I went thru 2 before I gave up and dropped the $$ for the TKO... if I could start over I probably would start with an auto car.

+1 you have a point, my auto is fairly bulletproof, the manuals, are prone to breakage.
I love howmost manual driverssay 5spds are funner to drive, its all opinion. Nothing beats my auto kicking my rear out damn near sideways going through 1st to 2nd at 50 under WOT. I dont like clutching, I dont find it fun, the extra power and extra gear are fun, but not the controlling factor, for me. I can control my gears much better then any manual, given theres only 4. (didnt say I can control my power band better) I wish there were 1 or 2 more gears for me to grab.

RE: Auto to manual?
I didnt know that. I have a 94 camaro a4 right now, and am looking for a newer car. Im planning on doing full exhaust w/ lts, supercharger, and if there are any other mods that support the SC then Ill probably do those too.I dont know much about stangs, so Im starting the learning process now. Do you think, w/ that planned setup, Auto, or manual? Also, can you tune for firmer shifts in mustang auto tranny w/o shift kit? and I keep seeing auto guys put 4.10s in the rear. I know you deffinitelly dont want to do that w/ automatic camaro DD. Am I missing something? w/ 373s in my A4 mt1 @ 75mph I run 2500 rpm, and cant hook at all in first, and most of second of the line( even though no spare, salad shooters, and no traction upgrades) I almost think 373s too much for my A4. Almost
