Default rattling sound (cats?)

when my car is cold, there's a very loud rattling sound coming from directly under me. I was thinking maybe it's the heat shield on one of my cats from hitting speed bumps, but when my car gets to normal operating temp, the sound stops. Any suggestions?

I had the exact same thing with the stock cat set up. It turned out to be a broken piece inside the cat not the sheild.

So, i dont want to buy a new midpipe. Should I just find some hi-flo cats somewhere and have those put on, or have a muffler shop weld on some straight-thru piping?

If you get rid of your cats, I'll takem! I do custom exhaust installs and I could use the shells. A shop will not straight pipe them nor hollow them out. Unless you know them they will do everything by the book.
