Ok... so Im trying to remove the stupid stock stereo out of my 99GT to get to the stupid SRS Control Module, But I cant get the stereo out with stupid u shapedcoat hangers! So I guess I am off to the Auto Zone to get the stupid "Special tool". However I am still anticipating trouble with this... anyone got any pointers? Thanx!

you may have broken/bent one of the clips with the hangars...i did this on mine when trying to get it out...went and borrowed the tools from the ford dealer...took me an hour to wiggle it out...now i have a useless casette player lol so good luck!

you got to wiggle and pull, i stuck the hangers fairly deep in there and it takes a little jerk (expecially for the head unit)...take your time and it should slide right out...i know how much of a pain it is

So.... I got the stereo out.... the SRS control module was not where i expected... well in a way it was... but i was going about getting to it all wrong... u dont take out ANY dash components... u get to it from the floor by pulling aside the carpet! This would have saved me LOTS of time!

i got my radio out by romoving the plasic trim and then unbolting it. it didn't seem that bad.

in mid 01 they changed it... that is the settup you have with the bolts... pre 02 is a bixch!

I agree with you.. I had to do the ol' coat hanger trick to get it out too.. [>:]

coat hanger worked great for me...
it is a stupid system since you can buy a kit on ebay for like $5 with all the security keys/pullers so thiefs are better equipped.
