RE: you call them turndowns
It gives it a 5-0ish sound.. some people just cut the pipes off right next to the mufflers... now thats louder n ****s... either way it takes away from the 4.6 sound in my opinion

RE: you call them turndowns
Turn downs blow man, I wasted 50$ having a muffler shop cut away my tailpipes and weld some turn downs onto my Flowmasters. You'd think the resonated sound from the ground would cause it to be a little bit louder well it wasnt. It in return became so deep and quiet I ended up just cutting the turn downs off and running nothing after my muffler (soundloud/deep/badass)like the guy posted above. Mind you this is on my 89 LX with a 5.0 in it but if it came between having tail pipes or turn downs..............keep the tail pipes it will sound so much cleaner/louder. Thats my experience maybe a non chambered muffler will have a better sound.

RE: you call them turndowns
+1 i like how my car is louder IN the car than out as it is a V6 and i don't want it sounding like it has more ***** than it does...so if YOU want to hear your car but don't want OTHERS to than do it...but yea listen to some of the clips in the tech section...there is a guy in there with Bassanis and turndowns and it sounds like A*S compared to a tail-pipe Bassani system
