Default 4.6 motor

i have like a thousand questions so i will keep posting them all
is a 96 4.6 block the same strength as a 2004 like is it a 6 bolt or 8 because if Iforged the internals i just want it to handel about 450hp some people tell me oh buy 99 and up block there stronger i just thought they changed the PI stuff

one more thing how do you know if your clutch is bad? The pedal is stiff like good but when i shift the shifter it feels loose going in and out instead of nice and tight chris

The blocks are the same, the difference is in the pistons which is why you get the compression bump when you put PI stuff onto your Non-pi..
why forge the internals if you are looking for 450 hp.. Yes, that is on the high end and people say you are playing with fire that high, but if "I" spent on the money on forged internals, I would be setting a higher goal than that.. More like 500+

your block with stock internals is good/safe for up to 425hp, anything more then that and like gt96 said, your playing with fire

Would you want to put forged internals if you plan to put a Kenne Bell s/c running 13-21 psi?

i diddnt know the block could hold up that much being stock. For right now im gonna put all the bolt ons in this order P.I. Patriot stage2 heads, typhoon intake, comp cams with lt hooker headers and a set of 4.10 gears the motor has 90,500 miles and it has bbk intake and flows already on it i just hope it will survive with that for 25,00 miles just enough to have fun

hell.. i ran 440rwhp for over a year on my car.. till i decided to put my new shortblock in for more power... its just time till you will want more power, i would say get the internals because if you want more power then, all you need is a new pulley and tune... if you do internals, cams, headwork... good luck trying to put down under 450hp with an intercooled setup.. im sure with just 10psi with that you will have close to or not more than 500hp... lol

i woudln't go over 450 to the crank on those motors and having high mileage won't help. 6 bolt or 8 bolt, someone was referring to the flywheel bolts on that one. the stock 4.6 gt's have the 6 bolt and cobra's have the 8 bolt, so does the 5.4's. The blocks are the same, both cast. like mentioned, the pistons changed after 98. also the typhoon intake is crap, crap for real, buy something else with that money.
