the air silencer is a little funnel looking part that looks like q-bert and restrics a little air that goes into your intake. if you take it off they say you allowing a better airflow to your intake, there for increasing a little HP. Nutting much but its a free mod so why not do it if your not gonna buy a CAI or RAI?

yea, why wouldnt you if you dont plan on upgrading to a cold air unit. Just dont expect to knock time off your 1/4 or plan on feeling a difference.

Does it make the engine sound nicer? Me and my friend did it to his mali, and it sounded beefy...?

Well there is supposed to be a small whisteling sound. MM&FF got a 5hp increase with it off but this could be due to dyno error, weather..who knows.

Honestly just do it. You can't feel the +2 hp but it's better than nothing. It takes like 3 minutes to do. Don't ask any more questions and just pull it out. Hey consider it as a weight reduction too

I would also take ur screen out of your mass air meter like i did on my 04 GT it helps give it a little more air flow. But i would also run a K&N air filter if ur going 2 do that,so that way u'll have more protection from dirt and dust particles
