port and polish stock pi heads....or aftermarket
i have pi heads and i was wondering if there would be a differnce in getting themn ported and polished and buying after market heads. Do aftermarket heads have ne other pro's other than they are ported and polished....
also ne of you know how much it can cost to get heads P&P and also a good brand aftermarket head ( i have VT stage 1 cams)

Aftermarket heads have bigger valves and usually come with upgraded springs etc. A aftermarket head is nothing more than a PI head with alot more work done than just the port and polish.

Aftermarket heads are just reworked PI heads.. they might have larger valves.. P&P can vary.. places around here wanted $600 for a basic port and polish and it can also get north of 1K.. You can also get a 5-angle valve job..

If you can get it for 500~ bucks (or an acceptable to you price) and want to save on costs I would definatly get them ported. You will already have the heads off the car (most of the battle) so you might as well do it.
Going from a stock NPI H/C/I car to a ported head/aftermarket cam/PI intake car would be a big change

Do you think you will change cams ? Because some mild porting/bowl work, 3 angle valve job would probably work really nicely with your cams, and not be too expensive.. However if you are going more radical later you will want more aggressive porting, oversized valves, new guides, etc.
