Or...you could race a DOHC, tap his rear bumper cuz you'd be losing, send him into a spin, and make sure he crashes in the rear. Then go buy the engine from him.

Nahh that would take too long to find a Cobra to race...[8D]
JK...Yeah DOHC kills SOHC by far. And DOHC + Supercharger = one badass car.

That it what I meant by not just drop in. You need the computer and harness and all that. Not just a motor for motor swap.

Yes it is a simple drop in to go from SOHC to DOHC, but you have to find a complete motor with computers and such... might be easier to just find a 96-98 Cobra for around 6k instead.

I think that you would need a Mach or Cobra engine in order to make it DOHC. This would also involve other things. It isn't a simple drop in.

I wish. I paid 9200 for my 97 last spring and had to immediatly put about grand into it (new tires and clutch). I've put a few more hundred on little stuff (trans fluid, oil changes, new headlights, a new idler pully, a new belt ets) that needed to be fixed, and it still needs new pads!! You will not find a nice one with decent miles for anywhere near 6k. Trust me...I looked long and hard.

haha you would be better off putting the 10k for a good engine and installation into your car and say no no no to the dohc even though dohc rules!

basicly heres the deal. it all depends on what he wants the car for and his spending limit. I love the DOHC motor. its is a work of art that runs. If he wants to do work to it and make it faster it will cost him A LOT more money. just to do cams alone on that thing would cost a crap load. 4 cams and all the labor. exhaust is hard to do just because its really cramed. The SOHC motor can be built up to be just as fast. there are many articles in mustang mags that prove that. If he has money to burn or just wants a car to stay stock and mess around in, hell yea get the cobra w/ DOHC. But if he wants to do mods and make it go fast and has not to much cash, stay with the GT SOHC. thats just my 2 cents comming from a college kid with a spending limit of an ethiopian kid. (no offense)

The car I was driving before the cobra was a saturn. You want me to put 10 grand into a motor for a satrun? Talk about a sleeper!!

Yeah...i really didnt have a car, so 10 grand for a mustang cobra is cool with me. I'm more of a fan of buying a fast stock car. I feel that the more you fudge around with it, the more it breaks.
