ON THE TINT SIDE, YOU CAN USE A GLUE STICK AND HEAT GUN TO GET THE FILM TO HOLD OVER THE DOTS.. I ACTUALLY USED A SCRAPER AND RED HOT TO LEVEL THE BUMPS AND THEN TINTED MY WINDOWS ARE DROPED IN LLUMAR METAL FILM TITANIUM AND THE DOTS ARE GONE... I USED TO HAVE A SOUND SHOP AND HAVE BEEN TINTING FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS</P>

Default New 2003 GT Advice

I am a newbie to all of this forum stuff, but I had to register because of reading the question as to if performance mods would affect warranty. Yes many mods indicate in fine print that federal law doesnt allow it to affect warranty such as on a diablo chip, or other things. But please believe me on this, my father is a service director of Brandon Ford in Brandon Fl, and I asked him the same thing about my 03 gt. You can attempt to push that law, but just think about all the trouble and extra money you would have to spend to try to win the case, and even then you are not promised to win. A gentlemancame in with a power stroke diesel, and Ford asked for a digital picture of the engine bay, the cpu, and the inside of the airbox. When ford found out the gentleman had replaced the oem filter with a k&amp;n, guess what, they voided the entire warranty on him, and he had to pay for a brand new $8,000 engine due to damage of the block and a couple other parts inside. Its just not worth it. You CAN put a short throw shifter, and catback exhaust on, and will probably get away with gears, but anything else, and I promise you will end up very sorry. If you add a chip to it, and then take it out before recieving service, they can detect that through the diagnostics testing. Also, do not attempt to lower your car, it will bite you as well. Hey, as for the tint issue, I have the dots too, and you will not get away from that unless you do as the person said about adding something to it, which will only create a mess and could damage your defroster. I dont really mind the dots due to every other mustang having them. Hell, I thought they were supposed to look like that until I really started thinking about it. <IMG src=smileys/smiley16.gif border="0">

Also, I would not touch anything from the cats up to the engine. Warranty will be voided as well. Ford will not allow cats to be touched, or headers to be added unless the mustang comesas aRoush or Saleen package. I truly hope you take my word for this. I can help you with any questions you may have about warranty with ford. The reason for Ford tightening up the rules is because Ford suffered an estimated65 million dollar deficit due to engine mods. Before, they had to cover all the damage under warranty, now they have created the tighterversion of Ford warranty, and you will seemore of this type of action throughthe top notch vehicles such as chevy and dodge. (Top notch to the USA, but not to me...)

The only way you can void your engines warranty is by doing INTERNAL modifications.</P>

I can't make you believe me. I am just trying to give you the advice. My info doesn't come from some bs magazine or article, its coming from ford my friend. If you don't care about warranty, then do whatever. And you are 100% wrong about only internal work voiding your warranty. I will make a bet with you if you want. Just get in touch with me first before you call Ford and I will bet you any amount of money you wanna dish out partner. I am completly serious on this one too! And I realize this is an old forum, but many people learn things by reading past forums. Thanks again.</P>

It's a FEDERAL LAW.</P>

The government says you can do whatever BOLT ON MODIFICATIONS as long as you do NOT modify internal parts. </P>

NOW, here's the trick. If a Ford dealership believes a PERFORMANCE part that was INSTALLED caused the FAILURE of whatever sort, THEN they won't warranty it. This comes from laws I've read, read up <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

I just called Johnson Ford in MA and the sales Manager told me, you can do performance modifications that do NOT REQUIRE opening of the engine. Headers, throttle body, etc are fine. He said he's had a few people swap intakes and Ford refused to warranty the motors. <IMG src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0">

honestly it depends on the dealership. some will overlook mods and some wont let you go with a k&n air filter like the shop that spinnerbates dad works at. i would go to a few ford dealerships in the area and just ask them.

about your mods i would do a complete exhaust system and cold air intake to start. you can put gears in it but that will change your mileage. a diablochip is a good idea too. you might want to think about cams too. if you find the right dealer they will install the cams for you and your warranty will still be good. good luck and enjoy your mustang

Dan is right guys, period. If the dealership wants to be *** nutz, then take them to civil court, it only costs 52 bucks.</P>

Since I got mine on the A PLAN...I wonder if I'm still warranted<IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0">. I'd like to hope so. The only thing I am worried about is my gear, but I figure if the love me enough to give me that plan I shouldn't have anything to worry about.<edited><editID>GSXRIntensity</editID><editDate>37903.4748263889</editDate></edited>
