Default 17X10.5 or 18X10

I have a silver 01 GT Vert 5-spd. I'm looking to get new tires, and I figured I might as well upgrade my wheels as well....I can't decide between 17X10.5 or 18X10.....Would the 10.5's be too wide?

+1 on expensive tires... the 18's look good if you can afford them.

Uh, I'll put it this way. If I were to buy another set of tires for my 18x9 (265/35-18) up front, and 18x10 (295/35-18) in the rear, it would cost me less to buy new 17x9 and 17x10 wheels and the same tires (appropriately sized of course), instead of JUST tires for the 18's.

the wider the tire the more tire you have on the ground which means more traction and grip 17X10.5
