my buddy has a black 99 trans am (with the ram air and ws6 and all that good stuff) anyway, him and i were out in my car bc he's never been in a mustang. obviously it's nothing compared to his car but we got to talking about what we've done to our rides and he told me one thing he's done is taken out the mass air sensor?? does he mean the o2 sensor like we have behind our airbox? when i asked him we then went to his car and he popped the hood. he showed me that the thing above where the air is forced in is something that looks like the thing that is above our air box, what is this and what did he take out???? he says it's not any noticable power but it allows the car to breathe a little better. was he drunk?

Im sure he was referring to the air silencer, if you remove the mass air meter his car will not run

no way, it's ram air. and he pointed out what it was he got into and it is what looked like what is ontop of our airbox.

it kinda soudns like he was drunk there is a air silencer that u can take out maybe adds a couple hp because of better air flow but u cant take out ur maf

All he did was remove the screens in his MAF. The O2 sensors are before your catalytic converters.

Chopper

There is a breather tube behind the air box that some guys remove.It sticks out into the air stream and removing it adds 3or 4 hp.One of their "free mods".If i'm right

i took the air silencer out, is that all as far as 'free mods' go for us with mustangs?

Nope!
You can remove the backseat
Go on a diet
Lose the spare tire/jack n stuff
Just basically any weight reduction you do will make ya move faster

Every like 10-15 lbs you remove is like adding 1 HP
