I have a 2004 GT Vert. I believe it has stock 17" chrome cobra rims. I bought it new from ford. I am getting 1000 dollars back from taxes and need new tires. I was wondering what size I could put on these. I want to go wider in the rear. I also have H&R super sport springs. Any help will be appreciated. These are the wheels I am not sure what size they are exactly.

those are 17x8's you can get a 275/40 0n the back

you can get 275 but i recomend 245's. they will fit th best on an 8 inch rim.

What kind of tire do you guys recommend. This is my first time buying tires.

I plan on going to the track this year with my nitrous.

buy cheap tires for the street, then but an extra set of wheels and get some drag radials for them, mickey Thompsons...then something like cooper zeon for the street

I don't know if I can afford 2 sets of tires. I think I just need one good set but I have no clue what to get. Track mabye once a month when the weather is nice and the rest just everyday driver.
