You're absolutly right. Only difference, is that I have heard from a few tuners that have worked on these things, that with the Shelby nothing is easy right now. The only "easy" thing is intake/tune... and people are having a heck of a timegetting them tuned for the time being. They need a ton of suspension work too, which isn't cheap when it comes down to it... lol.
For the record, im not comparing my car to this one right now because mine needs a ton of suspension work too! haha... The Shelby spins, while mine hops [&:]- lol

in that same magazine of mm & ff when they compared stock for stock cobra vs shelby, whenever the shelby launched they said it would not catch traction. i believe they did add a set 0f DRs and they said it still spun quite a bit. the suspension for the GT500 sucks *****. with a decent suspension and slicks the shelby would bea monster. i luv cobras and besides the 70 mach 1 it is my fav. mustang. but in this case the shelby seems to have the upper hand. with a couple of simple mods the shelby could be a decent track car.
Whoever said the shelby weighs 5000Ibs was wrong by 1000.

From what I have seen I tend to agree. The GT500 just seems to have a hell of a time launching (makes since with a bad gear ratio and more wieght). A set of drag radials and some 3.73/4.10s would make a hell of a difference.
There is a big difference to of a car that goes mid 12s on a2.0 60' and one that does the same with a 2.2 + 60' as well. On the street, where traction is more limited (unlike a prepared surface) you would see how much more power the slower 60' time car acutally has.

i would say that GT500 is much faster on the street then on the track.
