Same thing happend to me, of course I wasn't racing though. I was going about 60-70 hit the off ramp put it in nuetral and watched the rpms drop like crazy, it went so fast I had no time to give it gas and keep it alive. I restarted my car while going 50mph with no power steering, brakes, etc. No matter what speed you are going that is a scary feeling. I replaced the IAC and haven't had a problem since. He can try to clean it with carb cleaner but that is only a temp fix, if it does work, when I cleaned mine it just ****ed it up more. Tell your friend that its nothing serious, round up 60 bucks go to autozone and its fixed. I cannot believe that Ford hasnt been sued seriously what if there was a car stopping in front of me? I would of hit him for sure

lol I read your post wrong I thought that you said it happend to a friend of yours. Why in the hell did you continue to race your car after it just shut off on you? "I killed that stang but.. ****! my engine is ****ed, o well I think I can still take this civic revving at me"

I didnt think much of it at the time , since its happened to me before at lower speeds. Plus, he was talkin **** so i gave himthe jumped and beat him again. I got a lot of Pride yo... even though i could have ****edd up my car . . . lol

Definitely sounds like IAC.

Be careful of the roads man. When you are going 60+ stuff starts approaching fast!

looks like your dad doesn't want you goin fast, and put a govenor on it. lol did the steering wheel lock, when it shut off?? thats dangerous

when your car shuts off like that... It's gotta be the IAC. Don't try to clean it, just replace it and you will never experience that dramatic experience[8D] Happen to me once too (or several times) while I was decelerating. Everything shut down from power steering to electrical components. After I replaced the IAC, everything was smooth again and has never stalled again

LOL. 120 MPH is pretty fast! HE probably wants to kill me. WHAT KIND OF DAD WOULD PUT A GOVERNOR AT 120 MPH. . .THANK YOU!

With the ignition in the 'on' position it should never lock the steering.

Is the problematic with the automatic transmission as well? Because it seems like this Iac problem everytime I read is occuring with the 5-speeds.
