Default Tires, these Nittos gotta be good

Got a 98 GT. Wanna put some tires on the back. So I was wondering if anyone knew about the Nitto tires,

NT-555R size 245/45R17 94V
NT-555R size 275/40R17

On the 275's will the extra 30mm fit on my rear compared to the 245's, and will the ratio of 40 compared to 45 make my *** end look lower than the front if I only get 2 new rear tires.

If you have 17" tires they will fit just right. 275's are the widest you can go on the 17". Thats what im getting here soon.

If your car is lowered, you can usually get away with 45's on the front and 40's in the back, it really depends on how tall your treads are.

In your case, I would try to avoid it. You are going to wear your rear tires MUCH faster than your fronts. I did this with a set of BFG Radials & KDW's. I had the KDW's upfront and the Radials in back, it looks fine and nobody noticed until they wore down to almost nothing.

Even on a lowered car the 275's wont rub.

the rear will be highwe but not to the eye i can't remember exactly how much taller the 275/40 was but the guy at the tire shop said it would put my speedo off by .5MPH at 65 mph.

Did you say 275 is the widest you can go on 17 inch wheels? You mean on the front right?

275/40 & 245/45 are the virtually the same height, 25.7..."

So how they could look any different is beyond me Although I will say when they go near bald at the end of their life they will look smaller - but who cares?

You can tell the sidewall is slightly lower. 99% of people would never notice the difference. Like I said before and so didn't you, nobody will notice it until the tire starts balding.

If you plan on racing your car at the strip go BFG not Nitto, no comparison in 60 foot times.

Funny you should say that RJM, you cut a 1.80 on your BFG's and I cut a 1.78 on my 245 Nitto's [8D]
