I think your biggest bottleneck is your tranny. If I had an auto car, first I would try to swap my AODE for a 4R70W, but I digress:
-Shift-kit
-Tuner to modify shift points
-Stall converter
-Trans cooler with fan on thermal switch

In the racing or even street world a "well-built" automatic will pwn a manual. There will be some on here that disagree, but maybe one of the reasons is NE owners NEVER seem to touch the tranny which is a huge mistake. Automatics multiply torque off the line within the first few feet of the launch with the converter. Its easy to hold a stalled auto still. An auto with a shift kit will hit the gears faster then any short-shifted manual unless Chuck Norris is driving. Plus, when well built and maintained an auto can be ALOT stronger and more durable then a manual. If anyone on here doesnt believe me and thinks thier 3650 is gods gift, go find an old-schooler with a 400HP 64-72 ish car with a well built shift-kitted automatic and take a ride. BTW; wear a neck brace.

Equal drivers a Full Bolt-on 99+ GT will still lose to a bone stock M6 LS1.

You will need giggle gas or a supercharger to assure a win in non perfect conditions/driver abilities.

+1. Dan basically summed it up for you. Z28, SS, or WS6, the outcome will be the same. If you want the edge, or really want to win, you'll need nitrous or a Supercharger.
