Wrong Forum BTW, but It had to be another GT with Cobra emblems. It wouldn't have even been close if it was a real Cobra R.

I know about those Cobra R's...those are some wicked cars...it might have been a 99 or 01 then but thisguy had the whole package...wheels...rear bumper...badges...hood...the sound of the exhaust...all sounded like cobra to me.But like you said...it could have been a GT converted into a cobra look alike or something...still I wonder.
could you hear if it had a supercharger?
They didn't come supercharged. They have Naturally Aspirated 5.4L engines in them.

So I was Driving home from class this morning and this dude (another student)in his black cobrawho ended up drivinbehind me gave it a little rev at the light. "I dont have a chance in hell...but it should be fun"I thought. We both turned left and ended up next to eachother in two different lanes. We were both kinda takin it easy...goin about 30-35mph. So I figured if I'm gonna lose to this guy I might as well make the first move. SoI stomped on it hard. He took off too. I don't know if the guy was takin it easy but it was pretty much even for about 500-600 feet until I had to slow down to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Does that sound right? Theories?
I believe it, especaily since you took of first. I was merging on to a freeway one time and was behind a 99/01 cobra and hit it at about 60mph and it took him to about 100 to get even andstart pulling. If both of you would have been ready and started at the same time then he would've pulled on you from the get go.

One way to tell if it was a Cobra R, Did it have side exhaust?, thats how i tell if its real, most people have the body kit, but dont do the side exhaust, which unless im mistaken is one thing that sets the Cobra R's apart form the fobras

Uh, guys. Clearly it wasn't a Cobra R; it was BLACK.

Just as clearly it could have been a 99 Cobra.

And if you took off first, that isn't that surprising; a half second or full second jump is a LOT.

If you had kept going, he would have kept catching up/would have passed you. The 1999 Cobra was a dog, for sure, but still...

No way at all this is a R... you will be lucky to see one on the roads and if you do, its probably someone you live close by to. Most guys that own these are strickly track cars or garage kept only. No supercharger means it wasnt an 03/04. Since I take it that it wasnt the SN body style, your looking at either a 99, 01, or a fobra. If the rear bumper said "mustang", could've been a 99 and if it said "cobra", could've been an 01. But since the rear bumpers are interchangeable, thats not a tale tale sign either.

uhh I never said it I thought it was a cobra R...but I can understand why people might have thought that thats what i ment. I wasnt aware that only cobra R's were made in 2000. I was thinking of the 1999 or 2001 cobras then.
