05-06 Mustang GT vs. 99-04 Mustang GT
I was reading about the heads on the new Mustangs in a 5.0 Mag. I thought it said something about the only difference between the 99-04 GT and the 05-06 GT is better heads. Is this true? I know the intake is a different design, but other than that what's the difference?

the 05+ has different heads 3v vs. 2v, different intake...i'm too lazy to look so i'm not sure about cam specifics or compression ratios....and the big non motor related thing is the completely different chasis....S197, no longer based off of the fox chasis. They ride a lot smoother and are a lot quicker than 99-04 stangs in my opinion (i've driven both

The 05+ GT's aren't THAT much faster. I raced one (07 GT, automatic, stock everything), without the nitrous I'm essentially stock except for things that slow me down (cobra brakes = extra rotating mass), and wheels/tires, 295 width out back... MUCH heavier than the stock stuff though.
He launched on me because I couldn't hook, and he got his 235 width stock tires to hook (yuck), but I was spraying the 75 shot and I pulled on him, by 125 MPH I was about a car length and a half ahead. When I didn't spray he would edge ahead of me, not by a whole lot, but by enough.
The 05+'s have a brand new rear suspension, different chassis (S197 vs fox platform), and 3 valves instead of two (two intake, one exhaust). That fixes the major problem of lack of flow on the intake side that our previous 4.6 GT's have had.
