Default 99 GT v. 96 GT - mods

Ifound out on another thread that a 96 GT Stockwith a PI swap would do about 15 HP more than the 99 GT Stock.
But I was wondering which one would respond better to mods???

They would be about equal and both stink to bolt ons. The older car would have higher compression thus the extra 15HP you listed. Depending on the gas available the extra compression may require a weaker tune to prevent knock. Not on you list/question but if you are looking save for a Mach 1 or Cobra. mark

i think the 96 would because it would have a higher compression ratio than the stock 99

A full point of compression adds about 5% power. The difference in compression with the PI swap on the '96 would be about .5 so it would have 2.5% more power all things else being equal. That's about a 5.5 HP increase if that. Also I believe the -'96-'98's have a lower spark timing curve than the PI motors so it would lag there. It would really be a toss up depending on the rest of the motor and exhaust, etc. Mark

If you get a tune=no lag.

True but I would still take the '99 and up. Especially if the '96 had to have the PI swap done to it. Mark
