Default 4.10's are in!!!

Finally got my gears installed yesterday!!! I went with ford racing 4.10's, alsothe bearings done as well. I got them installed at a local driveline shop that specializes in rear ends and transmissions. I paid $500 canadian for the install and they did a great job, no whineing at all!!! The only bad thing was I needed a new pinion flange and ford had it at the distribution centre in town but they wouldn't let me pick it up locally so I had to wait a day to get my car back. I'm still breaking them in, I only went about 3/4 throttle and I felt a huge difference at all speeds !!! It "feels" like I gained like 50 horsepower!! Anyways thanks for everyones input, I most likely would have went with 3.73's if it wasn't for this forum. Cheers!!

I didn't mind paying a bit more to have them done right, I think it works out to be like $415 american.

just to let you know, gears don't need to be "broken in". as soon as you get them back from the shop you can start the fun! so go out, give it hell, and get back here to tell us what you think!!!

+1 The day I got my gears put in I was already thinking about 4.30s

I paid $150 and they did a great job.

That's what the installer told me too. I went "easy" on them for about 30 miles then gave them hell. No whine at all[8D]

Notice he said 500 Canadian, so that is more like 350 or so Dollars, which while a little high is not nearly as bad. I dont blame you for going easy on the gears, I have heard too many stories of people giving it hell right off the bat, and since they werent installed PERFECTLY, had a while and messed them up. Its always smart to let something break in, even if it technically does not need it.
