i dont' think it'd be worth it if you had to buy the engine...but if you already have it, why not just drop her in. screw it. if it ends up being a waste, learn from your mistakes. this is one of those chances in life that you just gotta go for.
Thats what i thought...the only upside to it is that even if it does end up not being like a huge power gain i still can say i have a 5.4 in my gt . But yea i already have the whole engine its just been sitting awhile i want to have it bored alittle

Well if you can wait a couple months I can show you the difference between the 4.6 and 5.4 on the dyno. I'm going to be running a s/c so it will be different but I want to lay my dyno run on top of a similar 4.6 car to see what kind of difference it really makes. I just have to save some money for the last few things.

The biggest problems I'm running into right now are headers. If you want to use anything other then the stock manifolds get ready to do some fab work. Plus I have an aftermarket k-member. Makes fitting a 5.4 easier then changing the oil. I don't know what it would be like with a stock k-member. Yeah as soon as the headers are done then I'm hoping the rest will fall into place here soon. Sorry for the lack of pictures I haven't had much progress lately and I still don't own a camera. (sorry for kinda stealing your thread.)

no its not worth it IMO
+1 the 5.4 2v isnt really worth it.. if it was the 4v well.. then you got yourself a motor.

Headers or stock exhaust manifolds? Manifolds yes aftermarket headers probably not. I think with an aftermarket k-member a set of shorties would fit. But my long tubes hit the side of the car and the floor. So it depends on what you got.

Sounds like you are seriously going to do this.

If I were you I would ask around on some other boards too toget as much info as you can and that way you will be able to properly plan for this install and can source the many bits you will need to pull this off.

Should be a very interesting project.
Good Luck
