my mechanic said i need a new oil cap...my service light keeps coming out and he is doing me a favor and just reseting the system and turning it off..but it keeps coming back on days later...what do i do?? cuzz i dont know why it would come on because of a oil cap.

Never heard of the CEL coming on cause of an oil cap. Next time the light comes on take it to autozone and they will check it out for free. Unless you know someone that has a handheld tuner that you can use.

ask him what code keeps getting thrown.. then i can tell you what the problem is... or is he just unplugging the battery and repluging it in resetting the ecu and pretending he knows what hes doing?

he read a code out to me and said something bout the oil cap and maybe a leak im not even sure..and he turns he light off..but this guy has a lot of experience..i will try 2 find out the code.

The oil system has 2 sensors, and I doubt the oil cap has anything to do w/ them... Not trying to sound like a jerk, but are you sure it's not your Fuel Cap?? That makes more sense to me, since they had issues w/ them..

+1---- I think that the gas cap will set off the check engine light
