worth it?

worth it?
My 00 GT has about 108k and im looking to put a 04 cobra engine and trans in it. the most i would spend on the complete engine and trans would be about $7000 shipped. If i can get one for that price would it be worth getting? I dont know how long my engine is going to last and the trans will have to rebuilt soon im guessing but not sure. If i dont get a cobra engine i want to put a MPH mongoose kit or saleen s/c on it and with that many miles im not sure how long its going to last and to have the motor and trans rebuilt i would think that it would get to the cost of dropping in a cobra drivetrain it. I just want some help and opinions on what the best way to go is because its a lot of money i want to get around 400 rwhp and MAYBE eventually 500 rwhp. Thanks, Jim

RE: worth it?
Its tough to say... If you have the cash/knowledge to do that, then go for it, You would have to get a new hood to fit the eaton on the cobra motor, It all depends on what you want. 7k doesnt sound like a bad deal if thats for everything. You gotta remember that you will probably need more then just the motor/tranny, im sure you would need a different driveshaft, and some type of cpu/harness work. If your willing to put the money/time into that is a pretty good deal, those cobra motors/trannys are almost indestructable. That would probably be cheaper then buying/installing forged parts, new tranny, and not to mention a supercharger of your choice.
Its your car/money in the end... spend it how you want too. You dont have to listen to a bunch of people if you dont want too.
P.S - If your going to get blown dont rebuild your tranny, its a hunk of junk, buy a new one that is made to handle that kind of power.

RE: worth it?
I'd have to consider a couple of things....price ,reliabilty, and availbity..What are you goals as far as Total H.p? I'd do the cobra motor exchange if the price was right....but under 500 H.P for astreet car is more than enough IMO with a 2v S/C....forged engine..Also,,look at the salvage yards...2v's are a dime a dozen....so ,,if it blows,,not gonna cost a fortune to find another.....But a 4v should will always make more power...give equal add ons....ultimately its your goal(and funds)that should determine the outcome....
