Ohhhh the MILES and MILES of open road on I-10 coming from Western Texas...... Gawd its like you HAVE to stop at every gas station you see because the next one may not be for about 100 miles. My radar detector remained quiet the whole time.... Not a single Ka or beep. lol

dont go past 3,000rpm for 1st 1000-2000 miles
Cool.....

But those dyno runs on a new motor..... Don't they beat the hell outta the motor as well?
You better believe they do. I have always given a fifteen minute warmup, to check the oil pressure, listen for anything funny, and check the mixture (I admit it is mostly bikes). Then bring its guts. That 1000 mile stuff the dealer feeds you is just to keep you from making a big problem out of a little problem and cover their @sses. Just ask the guy who tuned it for you and do what he says

i wouldn't recommend excessive high rpm use, nor a heavy engine load, but its best your engine recieves a view of the entire rpm load.

interestingly enough this was posted in ot a few days ago : http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

you need to fluctuate you speed and rpm's to seat the rings properly. Don't spend too much time at 1 speed. I would break the 600mile trip up into 2 days so you don't spend too much time on the highway at 60+mph. You need to have some local driving mixed in.
