Well, honestly I guess I should have added more info because I was going to say that I wouldn't mind doing a rebuild or tranny replacement so much anyway because I have a few odd synchros that like to act up and sometimes even grind. I just figured I'd put them off until I had more reason to work on the transmission, but either way I'm not in a huge hurry for this. Like I said, I can barely even hear the noise from inside the car and it's mainly when it's cold, so assuming it is a TOB, it can't be too bad.

I think I may just get the rebuild kit like you guys mention if I have to get work done already, also, I don't think it's the clutch out of adjustment because it's a stock clutch (and are they even adjustable like that? again, I don't know much about manual transmissions because this is my first and I haven't messed with it much). That's another thing I need to replace eventually, but the whole thing isn't a big hurry since nothing is really broken yet.

I can rebuild it for you.

Also... I severely doubt you need to remove the tranny to replace the TOB

Thanks for the input on this one guys. This morning I started it up and heard nothing, so I think it's just to a point where it's getting worse when it's colder, and if so it should have at least several months still on it, if not at least a year or so. I'll put it off for now and just start saving up a little at a time for a rebuild and clutch and such when the time comes.

I would say most definatley sounds like a TOB.... this is NOT a major problem though! It is nt something you want to go worrying about untill your clutch is shot! Absolutly no point to go fixing it now and DEFINATLEY not a reason to get a new tranny or re-build yours, that would be a waste!

Also... I severely doubt you need to remove the tranny to replace the TOB.... this is a part that normally comes with a good Clutch Kit... I have not replaced a clutch in these cars before, but it would seem crazy to have to remove the tranny to do so! The TOB is usualy replaced along with the clutch, there should be no need to pull the tranny.
+1

Drive it till it breaks, which it probably won't (not from this anyway)
