I run only Red Top Optimas. I haven't changed the one in my '03, yet, but it will get one when the factory battery goes out.

Definitely charge thebattery before the first use. I haven't had the need for a trickle charge on my classics, but they don't have any power draw.

I just got a new battery this weekend. I got a duralast gold (red top). It put out more cranking amps than my old battery did(which worked fine, it just got too old). PLUS the duralast came with a 7 year warranty. $74 i think
UMMM a Duralast Gold is a Wlamart or Walgreen Brand He means OPTIMA which is a sealed GEL battery. 100x more succeptible to vibration and heat. It can be mounted sideways! If your system has any wire of 4ga. or larger 2ga...1/0ga... then you need a capacitor and or a high output alternator. I have two jbl amps 4000watts total and 1/0guage wire with an Xtatic batcap(capacitor) stock alt. and a Optima redtop with no lights dimming. I paid $149 for the xtatic 300 batcap. It has the discharge rate of a cpacitor and the charging capabilities of a battery. It's tiny 4"x5"x3" and has 300cca and a reserve capacity of 60min.

Does that help out alot when you trickle charge a new battery before putting it in a car for the first time?

I have 1 in every mustang that I own (3) and 1 Orbital. The Orbital has failed 4 times already (Under Warenty) even though it is a higher output, but you have to relocate the orbital because it wont clear the hood.

No problems ever with my red tops.

Great Buy!
