+1

If your only gonna run a generic tune at least dump the diablo for a SCT handheld.

I just talked to Excessive Motorsports. $625 for a dyno tune with handheld... for 10-15 whp.... is that even truly worth it? lol

Thats using SCT Software.

$575 for chip, so I'd just as soon get the handheld.

Then of course I could sell my diablosport...

I would not dyno tune at this time. I doubt you would see even 10 WHP with your current mod list being fairly short and if you add anything like LTs (or that FI you were talking about) its a total waste of money.

That's about the going rate. Is it worth it? Probably especially if you are going to go F/I down the road you'll have your base tune and a handheld.

His n/a tune will do nothing for the car once it is FI. Considering that the only real mods done to the car currently are the midpipe and catback the stock tune should not be that far off. If he was considering keeping the car as it was or adding a few mods like LTs etc and then getting the tune it would be worth it, but a custom tune is gonna be worth virtually nothing on a midpipe/catback only car.

I agree, but it's not going to be very expensive going from the N/A tune to F/I tune. But you are right still extra money spent for small gains. It gives him basically a rear calibrator and diagnostic tool

So far as the tuner of choice, its really gonna come down to what his shop of choice tunes. If they tune diablo, you are stuck with diablo.

At this point I would do nothing with the tune. He already has a diablo tuner, so there isn't much point in changing it out again until he acutally goes FI. Nothing is worse than getting a tune/chip/handheld (or in my case 2 differet chips and 1 tune lol) and then needing something else entirely when the time comes to go FI (aka you went SCT and your FI tuner uses diablo etc)
