Default Whats gonna break? 400rwhp

Anyone had anything break at 400hp? What went? What caused it and could it have been prevented?

at 400 rwhp your pushing the limits of a stock block. Depending on your torque you might be looking at a tranny failure and the 28 spline rear is not the most durable on hard launches.

The block itself is good for way way more than that, and the rotating assembly is good for around 440~ WHP. With the right combo and a safe tune 400 WHP is completely safe motor wise.

So long as you do not beat on the car, and you run nothing more sticky than a nitto style drag radial nothing should break because of the power output of the car. Even the tranny will hold up so long as you do not beat on it/powershift. At this level people break stuff because they either beat on it or have a ****ty setup/tune (or just get unlucky and expose an exisiting problem).

The only real exception is the clutch... you will be slipping the stock clutch with 400+ WHP, but its just something you should plan on changing while doing the FI work.

I beat on the car fairly hard (I do have a TKO though, so I get away with it transmission wise)and have broken nothing so far.

+1 ... yeah.. with 400rwhp.. I have been told many times and now understand as long as you have a proper tune.. all stock parts should be fine.. and nothing should break.. but like 2000gt4.6 said... that is also assuming that you don't beat on it all day long... and the clutch should be fine too but it is always a good idea to replace it with a beefier one when going FI.

Your rods are the weak link that'll go first but like everyone else said, have a safe tune and don't beat the sh*t out of it everyday
