Default Quick question about GAS

After reading some posts about gas I've decided to start running regular 87 in my car again. I've been using premium for a year.....is it okay to just switch to 87 or should I use the midgrade gas first then gradually use 87? I guess it's kinda a stupid question, but I want to be on the safe side.

Go directly to 87.The 87 will be diluted by whatever you are running now and it will gradually return to 87 in a couple of fill ups.

Chopper, thanks for the info. The only reason to use premuim is if your timing has been bumped up. Otherwise regular (or whatever the manual recommends) is what you should be running.

Refinerys add compounds to increase the octane rating. This slows down the burn rate of the gas. This is done to reduce the chance of spark knock or detonation in high compression motors or those that have the timing bumped up. To maximize HP you should run the lowest octane fuel you can (highest burn rate) without getting spark knock or detonation.

It's funny how people pay attention when things start to lighten their wallet.
