car idle picks up on its own and hangs.
Lately when i have my car sitting in park the idle will sometimes increase on its own and the engine rpms just hang there without coming back down. any idea why this is happening? on the rpm gauge it will be at the 1 mark or sometimes half way between the 1 and 2. thanks in advance.

my 01 started doing that after i changed my iac, idles around 1k but if i put the clutch in while rolling it stays around 1500 until i come to a complete stop. Doesn't really cause a problem but i was wondering why it does this. Too much airflow thru the IAC?

The IAC gets stuck... What happened to me once was the TB to plenum gasket was messed up causing an air leak raising my idle to 1,250 and it would just stay up there until I turned the car off.

I have this same problem but my car is pretty much stock. I guess my messing around with the intake could have set something off...weird thing is it had stopped doing this for a couple months, and has now started at it again.

for those that asked my car is an auto. its not the tune because i had the tune on the car for a year and havent had this problem before. i replaced the iac a few months back and all was fine until now. i know its not normal because the car is reving way hi while in park like im racing the engine. Im thinking maybe carbon build up?
