Default Question about 96-98 4.6

A buddy of mine wants to sell his Dakota R/T and maybe get a 96-98 GT vert. What is the hp rating on them? Aren't they slow stock?

Those yearsaught to be good forabout 260 HP stock which is not that bad, but not that good either.Couple thatwith a convertable bodyit will not feel like a sports car for sure... I am sure that it goes without saying, but if it is an auto then forgedaboudit... Is he willing to do a few mods to make it right? At least in my opinion it will take that...

Yeah I am pretty positive that they are not 260hp lol. I just can't find anywhere that says a deffinate hp rating for them, I see 215 and 225. He wants a 5 speed, convertable, and yellow if possible (color doesn't make that much of a difference). If anyone is selling one just let me know and I will let him know.

He has a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T for sale or possible trade. Message me for more info.

And yeah he just wants a 5spd vert to cruise in with a few mods.

Lol, you've been a member since 2005 and you think that? 96 was 215 hp, then in 97 or 98 they went up to 225. I don't think slow is the word for them, but high 14's / low 15's isn't exactly what i'd consider fast either.

Yeah I always thought they were 235 for some reason. What is with Ford? Anyway, I'll let him know. Thanks.

in 98 they went to 225....they arent slow....but they arent fast either....the non pi stangs are the slower if not slowest of the mustang family....what what is he looking for? the car is still fun to drive and still has a kick to it....pi swap will get u back in the game with hp wise....

Yeah I told him to do a PI swap, I'll sell him my cams when I get new ones. He is just looking for 96-98 5spd vert to mess around, but also as a daily driver.
