I never had any problems with timing. I installed a BBK CAI and took out the MAF screen, runs fine, and pushed the rwhp from 170@3600rpm to 173@3589rpm. Big gain? Oh hell no, but it looks cleaner, and I didn't mind spending the money on it. It's a preference as to what you want to do.
