Default Zoom clutches beware...

Now this is just my experience but heres the story...

i got a free aluminum flywheel and i could feel my clutch starting to go out so i decided it was time to get a new one. my uncle owns a auto shop 30 minutes from where i live. so i brought it down there, got a car from my grandfather and left my mustang for about 5 days(had to order the clutch and adjustable cable) guys working at the shop were real nice guys had a bunch of mustang posters and **** on the walls and the head mechanic has a 68 fastback. when i picked it up from the shop he told me i could do whatever i wanted and there was no break in period(i specifically asked if i needed to 500 miles or whatever) and he said no, go have fun. im easy on it on the drive home. about 3 days later im getting on the freeway in rushhour from a metered onramp. redline first and shift and bam...bad noise clutch pedal wont disengage clutch, i pull over and get a tow home. rent a u-haul and bring it back to the shop, they tear it apart and are amazed at what they see the disc had totally shattered and he gave me a piece back and trashed the rest. he was sure it was deffective and replaced the entire clutch assembly. he told me the Zoom clutch was awesome and he uses them all the time. i get my car back. fast forward one month, i have been pretty easy on it since then a few redline shifts but NO powershifts or even hard shifting, i would shift at redline but slip the clutch a bit and then go. im getting on the freeway again today, redline second shift hard to third and BAM loud *** bang and i have absolutely no clutch left, i let it out and my rpms go up and the speedo registers about 20 mph and i was going at least 75. i am beyond pissed off at these bull**** Zoom clutches and i am going spec...end of rant[:@][:@][:@]

is there a breakin period i should know about for clutches?? i had at least 900-1000 miles on this last one

plus i have what...maybe 20 hp over a stock GT? i was harder on my stock clutch with 65K miles on it...

I know I posted this before but I haven't used a Zoom clutch in about 15 years, maybe more. At one time they were a decent product but they turned to SH*T in only a few years. Don't feel bad, the last one I used was in my 340 Dart Swinger and it lasted about 3 weeks, just cooked itself to death.
