I am confused

i am trying to decide on what synthetic oil to go with(probably Royal Purple).......I have noticed that LOTS of 99 - 04 Stangers are running other weights than the 5w20 oil....WHY..Is there lots of you that live in 100+ degrees weather everyday or do many people not like the 5w20 for some reason,......is there something I should know.....I plan on using 5w20 otherwise....thanks

I use Mobil 1 5W20, thats what I reccommend.

I would still like to know why people are not using 5w20....instead they are using heavier weights....Why!...should I use heavier oil?

Most likely they have a specialized set up like a stroker or something, or they are old timers and think everything needs 10W30.
