if i was u i would get the sc get a custom dyno tune then u will be set with like 8 psi around 350 hp to the ground

All you would have to do is get the PI upgrade and then go blown and you would make closer to 450 hp.

Its not quite that easy JD to get that much power. Non-PI converted cars can't run as much boost due to the higher compression, and besides you see what Im putting down and I've got cams and every bolt-on imaginable except an intercooler.

This is why I said to get the PI conversion and her would make much better numbers.

PI conversion = almost a full point more compression, meaning less boost and timing can be run on it compared to a full PI motor.

So go in and change out the rods and pistons for a better compression ratio and while you're at it make them forged so you can BOOST it. Two birds with one stone.

a head swap alone can cost 2500-5000 dollars. to do a good shortblock and nicely done heads to support 450 rwhp or more, you will need to spend over 10K for the motor and blower. plus you'll most likely get a new forged crank wich will require a new clutch and flywheel. ( remember forged internals is a waste on 2V blocks because they can only handle 600 hp. a good shortblock can handle much more, with internals they run 3-4 K for a good one. about the same you'd pay for a forged internal swap, if not more.) and then thy'll go off and start blowing up trannys and rear ends. and most people just don't have that kind of money, so all out isn't an option.

with all that being said, what kind of precautions do i need to take if i wanna run 9-10 psi on my stock internals with a 5 year old motor with 45k miles.?
do i need to get some head work done?, i had planned on getting cams after the sc as well just to help with timing and stuff but didn't really wanna spend the money on forged internals.... is there anykind of rebuilding or machining or porting i might wanna do before i force feed my motor ? (of course, i'll make sure to get a good tuning to reduce my "mess up" risk heh)

... oh which reminds me, hey MD are still running those VT N/A cams with your SC or did you get the sc ones?

As long as you have a good tune and DONT go over 10 PSI then you will be fine. I say stick to 8 or 9 psi because thats the really safe range with an awsome amount of push still.
That and continually pray that you don't get a bad batch of gas.

Mines still stock on the bottom end. But like the guys say keep it under 10 lbs of boost. Bottom ends will handle about 500 hp. Keep the rpm's at 6k or less. When under boost your compression is about 13 to 16 to 1. depending on your amount of boost. Thats what will blow your bottom end.
