RE: anyone got any idea what is going on here?!?
all this talk about letting new gears "wear in" and break in and give time to make a wear pattern.... how many miles to "break in " new gears then? cause i just got 4.10's in today and i dont want to do any long term damage... but i was planning on racing this weekend... how many miles i should drive on them first?

so, how long to break them in? I gave them a good 500 miles.
The more i fvck around with it, the more I think it might be the clutch.
It's getting worse and seems to be coming from around there. I can hear the same sort of sound (less severe) when I first engage the clutch.
I swear I can hear the throwout/release bearing squeeking too when it's idling.
MD - didn't check the trans fluid yet

If it's squeeking at idle, I'm going to say it's your clutch like you suspected.
Gears need a good 50 miles or so to break in properly, then have a blast!!
