Default cold air intake

Is there a difference between the $200 cold air intake and the Ebay $50 or $70 cold air intake? I have a K&N filter, so can I buy the least expensive kit and just use my filter?

the "best" CAI kits are JLT, K&N and the expensive Steeda or Tunable Induction

the ebay kits are hit or miss, they are similar in design to the bbk and mac CAI kits. the ebays sometimes come without proper hoses or clamps, they might not fit properly and sometimes they work great for people.

CAI's arent worth it to tell you the truth, the stock intake is a really good design. I say go ahead and do the silencer delete, and recharge your K&N and that'll be the gain from a CAI. The money will be better spent elsewhere.

If you care about everything fitting well and looking good underhood then go with a known brand.
I have a Roush CAI (paid $100 brand new) and the install was like it came from the factory.

There are other good brands at varying prices so take your pick.

The ebay option is a good one to get a basic CAI kit but as MVR said it will be hit or miss on the quality.

And if you plan to supercharge it, don't bother. You'll have to get a new intake with the s/c.

I have the Roush (I'm not saying how much I paid other than more than DTK). Waste of money. I picked up nothing in the 1/4. It was easy to install though, took me about 45 mins at work in the parking lot.

I bought a MAC CAI from a Mustang Supplier that was switching over to vettes for $15 bux plus $10 in shipping. Money well spent!

Honestly I didnt feel any seat of the pants difference but the sound was way nicer, hearing the engine through the intake is something I like quite a bit, so had I paid $200 for it I still would have concidered it a good buy.

I bought the Steeda intake quite some time ago. I only bought it because the car was under warranty and that was one of the few things that wouldn't voit it, haha. The fit and quality on it are great, but it was kind of expensive for no real gains. I would say save your money for something else, like gears, and then do a CAI some time down the road.
