Default intake manifold question!

I brought my 2000 gt to my mechanic today and had the car looked over and anything borderline was fixed. I was told I should think about getting the intake manifold rebuilt because they dont last much longer.(i have 87k miles on it) Is this true? If so about how much would a new intake manifold be or how much wuld it be to rebuild it?

Rebuild the intake manifold? Uh, no. Does it have the plastic crossover? If so, I would replace it with a new one with the aluminum crossover and find a different shop.

Ya, you can't "rebuild" a piece of plastic.

I doubt you will blow your motor if your smart about it. If you notice your car smoking and all your coolant gone when driving than pull over and get it towed. If you contiune to drive it while smoke is coming through your vents and your temp guage is far to left than you can really f- something up.. head gaskets, etc.

Good luck. I drove on my cracked intake till it cracked even worse and spilled all the coolant out in the middle of the street.. glad i was only 2 minutes away from home. The temp guage stayed at normal with no coolant in tank... im guessing there was coolant in the engine still.
