Default 99 GT vs. 06 Roush Stage 1

So i have a 99 Mustang GT and my friend just bought a 06 Stage 1 Roush.. In my car i have after market headers and exhaust. And the Roush has just the Stage 1 mods nothing else. I need to know whos car is better, and if his is what do i need to beat him. Its winter out right now both cars are off the road. Its killing me wondering who will win.

Well for starters, he's got 8 more valves than you do, not to mention all the other upgrades Ford did on the S197's...thats a big plus...

The only big difference between stock and roush stage 1'sis his performance exhaust, and possibly a short shifter. But the 3v gets ya, but he is heavier, quite a bit too. If you want torace him without mods, you could do some weight reduction. If you lightened up your car a bit, you will see a bit of a difference in the nimbleness of the car. Pull out the back seat cushion, your spare, and be the only one in the car.

With mods, if he stays at stage 1, you could get a tuner, cold air, t/b, 4.10 gears, go forced induction? Theres a world of choices on mods if you want to spend some cash on the car.

Stock for stock, I think the Roush has you, but I could be wrong. One could argue that it's a drivers race, but I thinkhe's a little quicker than you.

Give him all you have, you might get him. If not I'll run him for you. Put a 75 shot on and tell him your running boltons.

Being in Germany, I have come to find that the race is 60% driver and 40% car (if you have 2 decent cars) I have beaten Porches on the Autobahn..... but only because I am willing to push the threshold a little more than most. I will get them to back down. But on drivers that "can" race I get spanked. Your buddy has on 06.... so he may be a bit less willing to actually push the car to what it can do, so in this aspect as a driver you could beat him. Car for Car.... Roush

Getting someone to shutdown because they see contiuing to accelerate as a bona fide danger to themselves or others isn't a win. It proves your judgement may be capable of getting yourself or worse, someone else killed. Don't be stupid.Even if there is no speed limit.

Clarification.... I don't run like an A$$hole when there is traffic or windy roads. 90% of time I am egged on by these guys. They are just scared of damaging their 100k cars. I have been here long enough and seen enough accidents to know better than to slide through traffic at a high rate of speed.

Oh and a WIN is a WIN!!!

I don't mean to be snide, but I've heard ricers say the same thing after one of those trademark flybys...

If a glorifired turbocharged Volkswagen rolls up on me and I know I don't stand a chance (yet), I don't bother. You aren't racing, you're playing "chicken". I'm just saying, forgodsakes, be safe.

It is all good. I would have said the same thing to myself if I would have read it from your perspective. I am safe and only push where I can.... safely.
