putting mod motor in 1969 coupe?
i tried searching on here but i couldn't find what would it take to put a mod motor in a 1969 coupe i was thinking of dropping a lightning motor or 2003 cobra motor in it but how much work is involved and is there a size difference in the size of cobra dohc and a regular gt sohc 4.6

It could be done for the right amount of money, but don't you think you'd be happier sticking a huge carbed motor in there, like a 460 or 514? That would be sick, and sitck to the classic character of the 1969 Mustang.

it would probably be cheaper to do that, but i would shoot that person if they did that. its one thing to use them fordrag motors cause of the cheapness but if u put em in the classics than ur just a jackass

At least it wouldn't be like dropping an LSx motor. It probably isn't the smartest choice financially but it would be pretty cool/unique.

Whew, man you need to start looking at some pushrod's. 351, 347, 40whatever, 302, etc..................... Mod motors ARENT the way to go, and why not replace it with good old american muscle????????? Just a thought, unless you are just dead set on a modular

i say a good ole 351 cleveland 4v with a gigantic cam and a nice intake will do the job right. but thats jmo, or u could do a 429 scj or boss and have the power and torque to melt the wheels at every stop sign. mod motors are good motors, but not in a classic stang.

I don't see why you guys are all recommending a pushrod setup.
Show me one single pushrod setup that can make 520 + WHP and boatloads of torque with a streetable 20+ MPG setup.
Theres a major difference between having a 03/04 cobra assembly with a ported eaton, exhaust, intake boltons and a pully compared to a stroked pushrod with a big cam and a big carb.
The 03/04 assembly is pretty expensive, but so far as making the maximum horsepower with the minumum fuss and best streetablity there is alot to be said from a modular setup. Like I said, 520+ WHP, idles and drives likea stock mustang and gets 20+ MPG... what more do you want
