my car has stock 3.27 (96gt) i have talked to maybe 15-20 people (and also have read about their cars) and most are saying 2.73 and every now and then a 3.08 but i have not read or heard of anyone with stock 3.27. so i got curious and went and checked my rearend tag.....3L27 (3.27 posi)(aka locker)...what kind of gears do YOU have...what came stock?

I think 3.08s are stock on foxes and 5.0s up to 95, 2.37s are stock on 96-98s, & 3.27s are stock on 99+ GTs.

hmmm. (bet you meant 2.72 ) anyways, yah, thats what i have been told. and have seen, but i have a 96 GT.....with stock 3.27. maybe they made only a few with 3.27. anyways, its awesome

I meant 2.73s actually.

That's just what I've been observing on here anyway, I'm sure Ford did provide different gearing.

There was a post in the last couple days saying Ford had 3 different gear sets one year... don't remember what year they stated though but it may be relevant...

2.73's went in the AUTOS in 96-98.

I believe 3.08's or 3.27's went in the manuals.

My '96 has 2.73's stock. I'm assuming gears may have been an option? I think most stock, base 96-98 GT's commonly have 2.73 gears, I heard someone mentioning that you could have ordered the car new with either 2.73's (base) or 3.08's and 3.27's as different options...

My thougth was that the 96-98 5spds came with 2.73 and the same year auto's came with the 3.27...
