Mod motors are not cheap too build. A good source of information is the "How to Build Max Performance? 4.6/5.4 Motors." It's written by Sean Hyland. In there you'll a lot of these questions being answered. You may look into finding a previously built bottem end someone is selling, or buy a built shortblock.

That was the first book I bought when I bought my Mustang and nothing has even come close to the information I got from there. His website is great too.
