96-98 mustangs ar non pi, this means that they have restrictive heads, intake manifold, and mild cams. The 99+ mustangs ar pi (performance improved). A PI swap is replacing the npi heads intake and cams with pi parts. This gives about a 50whp gain.

That is correct. A nonPI head can only have cams 0.500 while the PI heads can be up to 0.550. The PI intake has an aluminum crossover to prevent cracking. The nonPI intake is very prone to cracking. The heads are as said, really restrictive. If you go to PI heads, you will also raise your compression abotu 1 point. Those are the main differences between nonPI and PI parts.

The PI intake does not come with the aluminum cross over. I have a 2000 and mine just cracked and I ordered the one with the aluminum cross over. That's just a heads up.

You get like 45 hp at the crank.
