Best way of removing cams without messing up timing?
Ok I am removing my heads to get them reconditioned cause I have leaking seals. While I have everything apart I am getting VT Stage 1s and Mac LTs. Since I have a 2000 I have pressed on cam sprokets instead of the bolt on cam sprokets. So with the new cams I have to get the bolt on sprokets. Is there anyway to remove the old cam and cam sprokets without messing up timing?

In short, no...
When the head is reassembled, hopefully it shouldn't be hard there.. Follow the shop manual, as to TDC for 1st Cyl. and assemble from there.. In fact, the bottom endshould be at TDC, or correct timing for 1st Cyl TDC when assembling, IIRC..

Thanks man. I just got off the phone with the shop I am taking the getting the heads to get ported and reconditioned and they are known for working on mustangs and he said he will give me instructions on retiming my car. Huge load off my chest. This project was a lot more work then I thought but everything is off now besides the heads which should be off tonight or tomorrow (depends on my work). I'm ordering the cams next week sometime also.
