for some reason i remember reading that the "X" has to do w/ it being a GT and i think Cobra's have a "Y" or a "V" there. Maybe a cobra owner can chime in and let us know. I could be completely wrong on this, but i know i've read it somewhere before. The topic came up b/c it's a good way to tell if you're really buying a Cobra, and not a clone, or really buying a GT and not a v6'er w/ a swapped motor.
