Im looking to get a Stang. Im trying to decide between a 96-98 cobra and a 01-02 gt. Which is the better buy and why. Could I get a 01-02 gt with around 40k miles for under 12k?

Cobra... for that price you should be able to get an immaculate 98. I think they have base 303rwp... not to shabby. Fun thing about cobras is they are just begging to be beat on with that high redline

It wasnt 303 rwhp. Those years were 305BHP. At the wheels it should be in the 270 range.

Its not like the recall was a big safety issue or anything. So they claimed 320 BHP and still made the old 305BHP.

i would say go with a 96 cobra in good condition. It has the teksid block and its an awesome platform to work on. 96 and up cobras have all had the 4v heads. Just make sure u know now that modding a cobra will be slightly more expensive...i.e. cams and stuff.
