3650 tranny fluid change
just wondering if those of you with the 3650 noticed and difference switching to royal purple synchromax, my cars only got 27K on it and i had the dealership replace some syncros early on when it was under warranty (probably at about 10 or so K) so its not that i need to change it, also is there a specific place to pour the fluid when you take off the shifter? or do i just pour it in there. i think it takes 3.6 quarts, which is different from the t45s which i believe are 3.2, im not sure though

I believe if it's like all manuals, there will be a fill plug from underneath. But the last ford I'll dealt with had the t-45

if you do it from underneath you will need a pump or a piece of tubing long enough to turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it in. The fill plug is in a horrible spot on the passenger side of the tranny.

TREMEC engineers have recommended Texaco-Havoline Dexron III/Mercon Non-Synthetic ATF. The most recent Ford owner's manuals specify 3.17 quarts of a non-synthetic Mercon ATF. There has been a significant amount of confusion regarding the proper capacity and proper type of ATF for the TR-3650 which may have a correlation with a rather large number of complaints about notchy shifting, shift "nibbling", noisy synchros, and grinding gears.
